Education Software Development For Schools, Universities And Training Teams
We build learning platforms for organisations whose teaching doesn't fit a stock LMS. Custom course delivery, adaptive paths, assessment, proctoring and reporting, wired into the student records and identity systems you already run. If Moodle or Canvas would serve you better, we'll say that first.
Why Education Teams Pick Our Build Team
Custom learning software is easy to sell and hard to run. These are the habits that decide whether your platform survives its second intake.
We'll Tell You When Moodle Or Canvas Is The Right Answer
If you need a standard LMS, deploy Moodle or buy Canvas. It's cheaper, it's supported, and it already does the job. We only build custom when your teaching model genuinely breaks stock software.
- Honest Build-Or-Buy Advice
- Moodle Deployment As An Option
- Custom Only Where Justified
- No Scope We Can't Defend
Standards Work Starts In Week One
SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and LTI 1.3 get designed into the data model at the start. Retrofitting a content standard after launch means rebuilding your progress tracking twice.
- SCORM 1.2 And 2004 Packages
- xAPI Statements To An LRS
- LTI 1.3 Tool And Platform Roles
- Content Imports Tested Early
We Build Around Your Academic Calendar
Nobody wants a release the week before finals. We plan cutovers into term breaks, run enrolment changes ahead of intake, and keep the freeze windows your registrar asks for.
- Releases In Term Breaks
- Freeze Windows Agreed Upfront
- Intake Dates Drive The Plan
- Rollback Tested Before Cutover
Accessibility Tested With Real Assistive Technology
We target WCAG 2.1 AA and check it with screen readers and keyboard-only runs, not just an automated scan. Learners using NVDA or VoiceOver have to finish the course too.
- WCAG 2.1 AA As The Target
- Screen Reader Passes On Core Flows
- Keyboard-Only Navigation Checked
- Captions And Transcripts Planned
We Integrate With The Systems You Already Run
Your student information system, finance platform and identity provider stay where they are. We map the fields, agree the source of truth for each one, and sync on a schedule you control.
- SIS Enrolment And Roster Sync
- SAML And OAuth Single Sign-On
- Agreed System Of Record
- Failure Alerts, Not Silent Drops
Live Classes And Video That Hold Up At Peak
Term start and exam week are the only load numbers that matter. We size video delivery and session capacity against your busiest hour, then load test it before real cohorts arrive.
- Sized For Peak, Not Average
- Load Tested Before Launch
- Recording And Playback Planned
- Bandwidth Fallbacks For Weak Connections
Assessment Integrity Without Surveillance Theatre
Proctoring choices are policy decisions before they're technical ones. We'll walk you through question banks, timing, lockdown and recorded proctoring, and what each one costs you in learner trust.
- Randomised Question Banks
- Timed And Windowed Attempts
- Proctoring Options Explained Plainly
- Appeals And Evidence Trail
We're Still Here After The First Cohort
The real defects show up when a thousand learners hit the platform at once. We stay on for a support period after launch, fix what breaks, and hand over documentation your team can use.
- Support Period After Go-Live
- Documented Handover To Staff
- Bug Fixes, Not Just Tickets
- Roadmap Review Each Term
Education And E-Learning Services
Eight areas of work. Most projects use three or four of them, not all eight. We'll tell you which ones your situation needs.
Custom Learning Platform And LMS Development
A learning platform built around your teaching model: cohorts, credits, prerequisites, competencies, whatever your programme actually uses. We build custom when stock LMS structures can't express how you teach.
- Course And Cohort Modelling
- Enrolment And Progression Rules
- Certificates And Credentialing
- Instructor And Admin Tooling
Virtual Classrooms And Live Sessions
Live teaching wired into your platform rather than bolted beside it. We integrate Zoom or BigBlueButton so attendance, recordings and session data land back in the learner record automatically.
- Zoom Or BigBlueButton Integration
- Attendance Captured Automatically
- Recordings Tied To Courses
- Breakout And Whiteboard Support
SIS Integration And Single Sign-On
Learners shouldn't hold a second password, and staff shouldn't rekey enrolments. We connect your student information system and identity provider using SAML or OAuth, with roster sync both ways.
- SAML 2.0 And OAuth SSO
- Roster And Enrolment Sync
- Grade Passback Where Supported
- Deprovisioning Handled Properly
Course Authoring And Content Pipelines
Tools that let subject experts build courses without a developer. Structured authoring, versioning, review workflow, plus SCORM and xAPI packaging so content moves between systems later.
- Authoring For Non-Technical Staff
- Versioning And Review Workflow
- SCORM And xAPI Export
- Reusable Content Libraries
Assessment, Exams And Proctoring
Question banks, timed attempts, rubric marking, moderation and results release. Where exams need supervision, we integrate proctoring and build the evidence trail an appeals process will ask for.
- Question Banks And Randomisation
- Rubric And Moderated Marking
- Proctoring Integration
- Appeals Evidence Retained
Adaptive Learning Paths
Content that responds to how a learner is doing. Diagnostic placement, prerequisite gating, remediation loops and mastery thresholds, all driven by rules your academic team writes and can change.
- Diagnostic Placement Tests
- Mastery-Based Progression
- Remediation And Revision Loops
- Rules Editable By Staff
Accessibility And Learning Analytics
Remediation of existing platforms against WCAG 2.1 AA, plus reporting that answers real questions: who's stalling, which module loses people, which cohort needs an intervention now.
- WCAG 2.1 AA Remediation
- Dropout And Stall Reporting
- Cohort Comparison Dashboards
- xAPI Data Into An LRS
Mobile Learning Apps
Native iOS and Android apps for learners who study on a phone between shifts. Offline lesson download, push reminders, and progress that syncs when the connection comes back.
- iOS And Android Builds
- Offline Lesson Download
- Push Reminders And Nudges
- Sync On Reconnect
Who We Build For
Each of these has different rules about data, different funding cycles and different definitions of a finished course. The build reflects that.
K-12 Schools And Districts
Parent visibility, safeguarding rules, FERPA obligations and staff who need simple tools.
Universities And Colleges
Credit structures, SIS integration, departmental autonomy and accreditation reporting that has to reconcile.
Cohort-Based Course Platforms
Fixed start dates, live sessions, community features and completion rates that pay the bills.
Corporate L&D Teams
Compliance training, role-based paths, HRIS sync and evidence an auditor will accept.
Training Providers And Certification Bodies
Exam integrity, credential issuing, renewal cycles and registers third parties can verify.
Tutoring Companies
Scheduling, tutor matching, session billing and parents who want progress evidence.
The Stack We Build Learning Platforms On
How An Education Software Project Runs With Us
Seven stages. The first one often ends with us recommending you don't build anything custom at all.
Discovery And Build-Or-Buy Call
We map your teaching model, your existing systems and your constraints. Then we say plainly whether a custom platform is justified or whether Moodle or Canvas covers it.
Fixed Scope And Estimate
After discovery we write the scope down and price it. Changes go through a change request with a number attached, so nobody discovers the cost at invoice time.
Data Model And Standards Design
Courses, cohorts, attempts, records and identities get modelled first, with SCORM, xAPI and LTI 1.3 requirements folded in before any interface work begins.
Interface Design And Accessibility Review
Screens are designed for learners, instructors and administrators separately. Each set gets an accessibility review against WCAG 2.1 AA before it reaches development.
Build In Reviewable Increments
We ship working slices every couple of weeks so your academic staff can use them. Feedback from real teaching people beats a signed specification every time.
Integration, Load Testing And Pilot
SIS, SSO and video connections get tested with production-shaped data. Then one pilot cohort runs on the platform before anyone else is moved across.
Phased Rollout And Handover
Departments or campuses move over in stages, not all at once. Documentation, admin training and a support period follow the final group across.
Learner Data, Ownership And Uptime
Student records are sensitive and often legally protected. Here is how we handle them, and what happens to the code when the project ends.
You Own The Code
Source code, infrastructure configuration and documentation are yours at handover. Repositories transfer to your accounts. You can hire anyone you like to work on it next.
Built Against FERPA And GDPR
We design data handling around FERPA and GDPR duties: lawful basis, retention limits, parent and student access rights. Your counsel confirms compliance, we build to what they specify.
Encryption And Access Control
Data encrypted in transit and at rest, role-based access for staff, and least privilege by default. Instructors see their cohorts, not the whole institution's records.
Audit Logging That Stands Up
Grade changes, enrolment edits, result releases and admin actions get logged with who, what and when. That log is what settles an academic appeal.
Data Residency You Choose
We deploy into the region your rules require, including UK and EU hosting where GDPR or your institution's policy demands it. Hosting stays in your cloud account.
Exit Without Hostage-Taking
Course content exports as SCORM or xAPI, learner records export in open formats, and we document the schema. Leaving us should cost you effort, not data.
No Testimonials Here. Four Commitments Instead.
We'd rather put four things in writing than show you a star rating. These go in the contract, not just on this page.
You Own The Code And The Accounts
Repositories transfer to your accounts, along with your LMS, hosting and integration credentials. Ending the relationship costs you nothing technical.
Scope Is Fixed After Discovery
Discovery is paid and separate. Once it's done, the scope and the price are fixed. If we misjudged the work, that's our problem to absorb, not a change request.
Rollout Happens In Phases
We launch one campus, cohort or programme at a time and watch a full teaching cycle before the next phase. Any phase can be rolled back the same day.
Support Continues After Launch
Documentation, a code walkthrough for your team or next agency, and an agreed support arrangement with named engineers and response times. No dependence on us by design.
Education Software Development FAQs
Most schools should not build one. If you need courses, quizzes, grades and enrolment, deploy Moodle or buy Canvas. Custom work earns its cost when your teaching model, credentialing or integrations genuinely can't be expressed in a stock LMS. We'll tell you which case you're in during discovery, even when that means less work for us.
Yes. We build against SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 and xAPI. SCORM handles packaged course content and completion tracking inside the platform. xAPI records learning activity that happens outside it, including simulations, mobile use and on-the-job tasks, and sends those statements to a learning record store you control.
Usually yes. We integrate through whatever the SIS exposes: an API, IMS OneRoster feeds, LTI 1.3, or scheduled file exchange where that's all there is. Before quoting we check what your specific version supports, because two institutions running the same SIS often have very different integration options available.
We implement SAML 2.0 or OAuth against your existing identity provider, whether that's Shibboleth, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace or Keycloak. Learners and staff use their existing credentials. Deprovisioning matters as much as login, so accounts lose access when someone leaves, not months later.
We build to WCAG 2.1 AA and test with screen readers and keyboard-only navigation, not just automated scanning. We can't certify your platform, and nobody honestly can. What we can do is document what was tested, what passed, and what remains, so your accessibility statement is accurate.
It depends on integrations more than features. A focused platform with one SSO connection and no SIS sync moves quickly. Anything touching student records, exam integrity or a legacy SIS takes longer, mostly in testing. Discovery produces a real timeline tied to your term dates rather than a number we guessed on a first call.
No, and be wary of anyone claiming to be. FERPA and GDPR are legal duties on your institution, not vendor certificates. WCAG is a technical standard, not a certification scheme. We build against all three and document what we've done, so your legal and compliance teams can verify it themselves.
